Building Mathematical Confidence Since 2015
Jilare began in 2015 when Elena Dimitrova, a mathematics teacher with 12 years of classroom experience in Sofia, noticed a recurring pattern. Many students struggled not because they lacked ability, but because traditional teaching methods didn't match their learning pace. She started offering personalized sessions after school, working with 5 students in a small office on Oborishte Street.
What started as individual tutoring evolved into a structured program. By 2017, we had 3 qualified tutors and served 40 students monthly. Each tutor holds a degree in mathematics or mathematics education and undergoes training in our diagnostic assessment method. This approach identifies specific gaps in understanding rather than simply reviewing entire topics.
Today, our team consists of 8 tutors specializing in different areas: algebra, geometry, calculus, and exam preparation. We work with students from 5th grade through university level. Our location on Oborishte 53 in central Sofia provides easy access via public transport, and we maintain a resource library with over 200 practice problem sets organized by difficulty level.
Each session follows a documented plan with clear objectives. We track progress through regular assessments every 4 weeks.
All tutors hold mathematics degrees and complete 20 hours of pedagogical training annually in teaching methodologies.
Parents receive written progress reports after each assessment. We discuss challenges and adjustments during scheduled consultations.
We focus on building genuine understanding through step-by-step problem solving. Students learn to break down complex problems into manageable parts, a skill applicable beyond mathematics. Our tutors use diagnostic questions to pinpoint exactly where confusion begins, then address those specific concepts.
Sessions run 60 or 90 minutes depending on student age and attention span. We limit group sizes to 4 students maximum to ensure individual attention. For exam preparation, we provide past papers from Bulgarian matriculation exams and university entrance tests, organized by topic and difficulty.
Since 2015, we have worked with over 350 students. Our approach remains consistent: identify gaps, explain concepts clearly using multiple methods, practice systematically, and verify understanding through problem-solving. We measure success through improved test scores and student ability to solve problems independently.
